Our stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort and Bungalows was everything we hoped for in a Hawaiian vacation—and then some! From the moment we arrived, check-in was smooth and welcoming. The staff were friendly and warm—we exchanged plenty of cheerful "Alohas" that set the tone for a relaxing stay. We booked one of the bungalows, and while it was pricier than a standard room, it was absolutely worth the experience. The bungalow was even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. Just steps from the beach (literally a 30-second walk!), it offered a sense of privacy, comfort, and that laid-back island charm you hope for in Maui. One of our favorite features was the use of wristlets instead of traditional key cards—super convenient and one less thing to keep track of. We loved being able to simply slip it on and forget about it. The beach in front of the resort was tranquil, expansive, and never felt crowded. We really appreciated that peaceful vibe. Just one beach away is the bustling scene at Black Rock, where the crowds gather for snorkeling and excursions. That made our location feel even more ideal—close enough to walk (only about a 10-minute beach stroll) to the top restaurants and attractions in Kaanapali, but tucked away enough to truly relax in a quieter, more serene setting. That said, the one downside for us was the surprise parking fee. We didn’t realize there was a daily charge for parking, and it was $40/day for self-parking or $45/day with valet. I’m sure it’s listed somewhere, and I know many resorts charge for parking, but it still felt a bit steep. After a moment of sticker shock, we gathered our composure, smiled, and moved on. It definitely didn’t ruin the experience. After settling in, we spent our first afternoon with drinks in hand, toes in the sand, enjoying the perfect weather—low humidity, a gentle breeze, and not a single pesky bug in sight.

We were seeking a retreat away from the cold, resorts, and found a true little paradise. While not a boutique hotel, the warm, personalized service made us feel right at home. The essence of Maui is alive here, reflected in the peaceful atmosphere and the genuine super kindness of the staff. A perfect spot to experience the island’s true spirit. Although we faced an unexpected situation, the staff handled it with warmth, professionalism, and full support. A special thank you to Nicholas Kuhns, the General Manager, for his exceptional leadership. His high level of professionalism ensured everything ran smoothly, meeting luxury standards, while staying true to the hotel’s spirit and promise. The personalized service and genuine kindness of the team made us feel right at home. We are truly grateful for Nicholas and his team. A perfect place to experience the true essence of Maui. Without a doubt, I would return to this place to enjoy the stunning ocean views, the refreshing breakfast, the ample parking, and the activities that create the perfect balance between luxury and the warm, authentic spirit of Hawaii.

This was our first time visiting Hawaii and we had a wonderful time! We only had a couple of days to spend at this wonderful resort and we are so happy we chose it! We walked along the boardwalk in the mornings and said what a good and lucky choice we had made in selecting the Royal Lahaina. We remarked on how the resort felt calm and how well it blended with the nature around it. The food was really great and we never regretted paying a little extra for each of the meals we shared. The staff was friendly and we really appreciated the live music playing both by the pool and in the beautiful grotto area. Thank you for such a great experience!

This property is absolutely beautiful. The bungalows are the way to go for sure. We spent $18 on a toaster and were able to make our own bagels for breakfast. Kept our refrigerator stocked with water and our own alcohol. I feel like this is such a little gem. Haven’t been to this resort in summer but beginning of November and middle of April was perfect. It doesn’t feel as crowded or busy as the other side of black rock where whalers village is. It’s literal perfection.

I love the location of this resort! Outdoor pool and right on the beach was so perfect. We reserved a cabana for the entire day for just $100 which was so comfortable & relaxing. I loved how friendly the staff were and the breakfast restaurant there was so good. I liked the spacious balconies from our room as well. We spent a lot of time out there watching the sunrises & sunset.
